Avascular necrosis and it’s Ayurvedic management


Avascular necrosis (AVN), also known as osteonecrosis.It’s characteristic feature is the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply. In some cases the pathologic mechanism includes interruption of blood supply to bone. The reason for this may be direct trauma, compression , or thromboembolic obstruction. Infarcts are seen in bones. Commonn is end arterial circulation.


Causes :

  • chronic alcoholism
  •                    corticosteroids
  •                    medication side effects
  •                    trauma

signs and symptoms :

  • No symtoms in early stages.
  • Eventually , the affected joint may hurt when weight is put on it or when lying down.
  • Cheif complaints are, pain in hip, buttocks, groin, knee, thigh.
  • Also there ia joint stiffness , or limping.
